ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project, one of Katerina Churina's most beloved works, required considerable effort and time. It combined two apartments into a single space. Behind the minimalism of the apartment lies a multitude of intricate engineering solutions that ensure a high level of comfort. The unique charm of the project comes from a distinctive blend of shapes, textures, and light. The unique combinations lend expressiveness to the interior while maintaining a sense of lightness and minimalism.

CUSTOMER

The owners of this apartment are our long-standing clients, with whom we have been working for many years. This wonderful couple's first apartment was designed and brought to life by Churina Design Studio in 2009, our first year in business. We then jointly developed and executed a house project for the clients' parents. When, after a decade, our clients decided to move to a new home, they once again placed their trust in us.

At first glance, the gray-based color scheme may seem cold, but the interior of this stunning apartment is bright and warm.

During the redesign, we combined the living room, kitchen, and hallway into a single open area. The hallway, normally hidden from view, is the main feature of this project. Natural walnut veneer panels conceal hidden doors and a coat closet, and transition smoothly into the kitchen facades. Wood finishes are also present on the pillars in the living area, in the bedroom, and in the children's room.

The most attractive feature of the interior is a green wall visible from the living room and dining room. This "piece of jungle" looks natural and harmonious in combination with the abundance of wood in the interior.

A small window in the wall conceals a dressing room. It is illuminated from within, filling the room with soft light.

The minimalist kitchen in light gray tones does not draw unnecessary attention, but it is a model of modern style. It was carefully designed specifically for this project and incorporates all modern technologies. All appliances are hidden in tall cabinets also clad with wood panels. These cabinets continue the walls of the hallway and living room.

The central part of the kitchen appears weightless, and soft lighting under the suspended section gives it a lightness and futuristic look.

The other half of the apartment is designated as personal space. It houses a children's room, a master bedroom, and two bathrooms. The bedroom is designed in soft natural tones. A unique feature is the glass wall leading to the bathroom, which can be closed with curtains for added privacy. The bathroom leads directly to a closet. The closet is not only used to store clothes and shoes, but also as a server room with additional cooling and ventilation, from where the entire "smart" system of the house, lighting, and air conditioning are managed.

The children's room is decorated in light colors. This allows children to fill their space with personal preferences that will change as they grow. The room has a bunk bed, cozy play areas, and plenty of space to store children's belongings and toys.

The comfort of the interior is enhanced by well-designed lighting and wooden furniture elements, which fill the room with natural warmth. Each element of this project was designed by the Churina Design studio team and imbued with meaning.
