ABOUT THE PROJECT
The idea of creating my own home did not stem from a dream of architectural fulfillment. I am not an architect, but rather an interior designer specializing in renovation and spatial transformation. Instead of investing years in plans, permits, and construction, I took a different approach: I looked for a house that already had character. My main requirement? A unique layout: something with individuality, not just another predictable box. Another critical condition was the staircase. With two small children and our own need for comfort, steep steps were not an option. But in this mountainous region, where plots often resemble a waterfall, it was no small challenge.
CUSTOMER
The client? My own family. This project was very personal: an opportunity to design not only a beautiful space, but also a meaningful one. I only worked with trusted suppliers, with whom I have collaborated over the years, because true interior design is based on relationships, integrity, and a shared vision.
For the style, I chose contemporary classicism in a soft, neutral palette. Like many architects who wear black to maintain visual focus, I moved away from bold accents in favor of deep textures, tranquil details, and timeless materials. We retained about 70% of the original layout. The remaining 30% included adjustments to improve light and functionality, thoughtful changes that brought the design to life.
RESULT
We searched for two years. The purchase itself took another eight months. What made this house the chosen one? A two-level layout with a large central staircase reminiscent of classic European villas. Carefully separated rooms that provide privacy and tranquility without the need for soundproofing. An interior that was completely untouched—no renovations in 25 years—which allowed us to see its original structure and materials and transform it from scratch.
The result is a home that is both elegant and lively. A place of lasting comfort and quiet inspiration. We restored the original wooden floors, kept the authentic windows, and used as many existing elements of the house as possible, not only for sustainability, but also to preserve its soul.
Instead of creating something new from scratch, we gave this house a second life. Now it is ready to live another 25 years, with our family, our memories, and a new story woven into every corner.
